The interactive map below shows our current prediction for the stellar occultation by (617) Patroclus on 2021 January 24 UT. The prediction is based on a Gaia DR2 position for the star and the v20181130000643 orbit estimate for Patroclus.
Patroclus is part of a binary, but we have not plotted both components yet. The ground-track will be updated before the event.
Geocentric mid-time of the event is 07:04:44 UT. Star position is RA 15:59:16.9, Dec -24:02:58 (J2000), and its magnitude is 12.69. Patroclus is moving at 27 km/s with respect to the star and its diameter is estimated to be 127 km, so central chords are expected to last 4.7 seconds.
