The interactive map below shows our current prediction for the stellar occultation by (617) Patroclus on 2021 June 9 UT. The prediction is based on a Gaia DR2 position for the star and the v20181130000959 orbit estimate for Patroclus.
Patroclus is part of a binary, but we have not plotted both components yet. The ground-track will be updated before the event.
Geocentric mid-time of the event is 14:57:35 UT. Star position is RA 15:40:52.1, Dec -28:58:00 (J2000), and its magnitude is 14.22. Patroclus is moving at 16 km/s with respect to the star and its diameter is estimated to be 127 km, so central chords are expected to last 7.9 seconds.
