Leucus Occultation 2019-12-29 (G* = 11.4)

The interactive map below shows our final prediction for the stellar occultation by (11351) Leucus on 2019 December 29 UT. The prediction is based on a Gaia DR2 position for the star and the v20191223203245 orbit estimate for Leucus, which has a 1-sigma cross-track uncertainty of 3 km. This orbit includes all astrometry through December 2019, and is validated against past successful Leucus occultations.

Geocentric mid-time of the event is 03:30:38 UT. Star position is RA 22:53:00.1, Dec +04:20:36 (J2000), and its magnitude is 10.88. Leucus is moving at 24 km/s with respect to the star and its diameter is estimated to be 30 km, so central chords are expected to last 1.2 seconds. Leucus' magnitude is predicted to be 18.7 at event time, so it will be 1300 times fainter than the star.
